Cruise The Canary Islands

Have you any idea how much it would cost to stay in luxury accommodation on full board (all you can eat), nightly entertainment all whilst touring the Canary Islands (including travel costs once you're here)? Roughly 600 euros per person for a week if you did it on a cruise ship.

Whilst I still love my city breaks the idea for me of jetting off to a far away destination for my main holiday only to sit on the beach or by the pool for the week is not so appealling any more. Of course here on Gran Canaria there are dozens of day trips and places to see to keep you nice and busy for a couple of weeks (another blog for another day). Another option is to sail around the Canary islands and/or Portugal, Morocco, mainland Spain... on a luxury major cruise ship for 8 days, 10 days or 14 days.

The MS Aida offers a very good selection of routes and durations starting from November 1st, 2014 and running through the winter starting here in Las Palmas. If you're a beach person at heart but love the cruise idea then try a week by the beach in Maspalomas for example followed by a week on a cruise.

MSC CruisesThomson and I'm sure a few more have several options taking in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera and La Palma.

If you can wait until next summer or longer the Royal Carribiean are building a brand new liner which will be the third largest cruise ship in the world, a small floating city "Anthem of the Seas" which will leave Southampton for a two week cruise around westerm Europe with stops in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.
