One of the main events of the carnival is of course electing the carnival queen. 

Local business sposnor each contestant so large sums of money are invested in designing and creating spectacular costumes several meters wide / high, some so heavy they rely and a system of supports and wheels in order for the hopeful to be able to move around the stage. The head dress again is huge, weighing several kilos and if the hopeful can dance to the carnival music without falling over, there's an extra point or two.

This is one of the few events where advants tickets are required.
