Hi
Having recently moved to Tauro I just wondered what the plans for the golf course and surrounding areas were? I remember hearing talk of a marina, shops etc is this going ahead?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanx

I brought this topic up earlier this year, apparrently the Anfi group are developing a new marina and golf course this I read in a local newspaper. One of the resident forum members (can't remember who?) posted that planning permission had been denied. During my recent trip over I drove around Tauro to see how it was progressing, and it was certainly much more advanced than at Xmas time. A mate of mine has bought the former Waterloo bar at P. De. Cura and is hopeful it's gonna get finished sooner rather than later.( Waterloo is now known as the FLEUR DE LYS). Perhaps one of the residents can enlighten you!!!!!

I've heard many stories about Tauro. They were going to have a golf course and a 500 berth marina. Then I heard that the builder and Anfi had lost permission. Then i heard that they could finish what they started - so the golf course and houses around would be ok. The marina has been stopped for now but may end up being a smaller marina - most of the marinas here are 100-150 berth.
As usual its all gossip and noone knows what'll happen, probably not even the builders know what'll happen in the end!!
Bar Pio Pio may know the latest - on Tauro beach

Yes there are many stories about Tauro. And the land has changed hands a few times. At the moment Bjorn Lyng. (The anfi developer) And Santana Cazorla are the owners and developers of it all round there. But even they have had spats recently over pennies ownership and who puts in what to get it all done. And on top of that they are fighting together against the powers that be being accused that a marina will upset all the fish round there. And then there is an ongoing long argument over where they will be allowed to dig the sand from on the island for the new beach at Tauro and the new one at Playa del cura. And still there is fighting over residents in Tauro with bjorn Lyng Anfi.who do not want to be supplied water from his desalination plant, they want to stay on the town hall water. and anfi want to put everyone in tauro on the desalination plant (DE SALTED SEAWATER)
As they think if they go on this private supply then they will have to pay more for there water.WELL i would think that as well.
Water is different in every area on the island. Playa mogan and the Pueblo water comes from 3 wells owned by a local family there who sell it to the town hall who then sell it to us. It is very cheap and is not seawater but from underground wells they found it about 8 years ago here. Before that you had to buy it in from tankers coming down from up over the mountains from the pueblo. From the owners of the lakes on top of the mountains there. Hence all the big plastic tanks you still see on the roofs in mogan areas. Some houses still use them as they have not paid to go on the town supply.I have a massive concrete tank in my garden dug in below ground. I think it will be up to the ecologists wether the marina will get built or not. It depends on who wins the fight. It originaly was held up because of the death of one of the owners of the beach area whilst the sale was going through. His inheritors had to be found the land had to be registered to them before it could be sold to anfi. And believe me that can take a few years. It is a long drawn out process when land and properties have to be registered if they are not before sale.

Tauro was originaly built as a health place for old people( all little bungalows.) The original owner of most of the land there in the pueblo bit where most of the new houses are (does still live there )
although he has sold most of it off now he still owns some old bungalows
A lot of people built illegal houses there on public land, and did stand to lose them. But all that is (definately) sorted out now about two years ago in a big court case, as other people had then bought them unknowingly.
It was decided that no innocent people should be bulldozed down and the council gave the land up for good so everyone is safe there now.But at the back of Playa del cura (Beware )there are some beautifull houses there dream ones, But some are illegaly built and if they have not been built at the cut off date 30 years ago (from the date that that was decided ).You will never be able to register them. And also the motorway to mogan is going at the back of Playa del cura .( It will be built one day.) so you need to be (very carefull )buying any house there. If its illegal and in the way of the motorway they will just take it down and you will get nothing.

I believe that they do have residents meetings in tauro They used to)and most of the residents who go to the meetings will know whats going on for sure. There is a communidad of residents there who sort local matters out there. If i can remember the names of people who i think might still be invloved with the meetings. i will let you know, Mostly they live in Calle Canada. In Fact the owner of tiffanys in puerto rico should know everything (ELLIS) He is the best one to ask as he has lived there years. And i think used to go to the meetings. (thats if he still lives there in tauro)I have lost touch with there now as we moved on building in mogan from there.(But architects who know lots of truth about plans who im regularly in touch with) ill ask them when i get the chance.
