we've all heard of the frauds related to timesharing. what i would like to know is if there is a person who can tell me something POSITIVE about this topic? because i'm sure that it's possible to get a good deal and to be satisfied with the appartment or whatever you chose to "rent". does anyone agree? or is it better to look for yourself, surf the internet or ask someone on the island and find a house or a flat to buy or rent?

thanx steve! basically it is a matter of how lucky you are not to run into a person that will do anything just to sell you a piece of nothing? i saw this website on this forum and i was looking at the offers, there are 3 pages related to tenerife: http://www.glo-con.com/property_directory.php?country_code=198®ion_code=649&real_estate=Y&pag=3 and what do you people think, is this a good way of looking at the offers for someone who's thinkin of buying a flat or apartment on tenerife in order to use it for vacations and maybe even to move to canary islands one day? sorry if i'm being boring but two persons asked me to get some information and i would like to be informed as much as i can. thanks a lot in advance for all your help!

i have never heard of them but one thing i would do is post a message on www.crimeshare.net if this company are dodgy you will be told soon enough ,by someone , just to prove a point how good this site is yesterday in machester a fruadster called Jeff Armstrong was jailed , most of the eveidence was gained from this site and teh CID also use it , so i would trust any comments made
hope this helps , dont want people tolose £1000's due to conmen and in Tenerife there are a lot of them

Annie, I have owned timeshare for over 10 years and, fortunately, have never had any problems. Admittedly I was very careful when I first bought and made sure I was not being conned.
Being caught out on the street and then at a resort is always the problem. If you are in this position remember "Never part with any money on site"
We have been all over the world using our timeshares and have just come back from Australia using the system. We have always found the level of accommodation to be far better that the standard resort one finds through the big tour companies.

we own timeshare in Puerto Rico and have to say we have never had any problems. My parents have owned some for years.
As we have 3 kids, package tours are too expensive so we looked at timeshare. We visited Bahia Blanca in PR for a week. They explained how it works, costings etc and then left us with the info.
We paid £7k for the first 2 weeks in August for a 3 bed, 2 bathroom apartment which sleeps 8 people and have an open ended contract with them. We will save money when compared to package tours over the next 10 years. When the kids have left home we will have a good exchange rate that will allow us to travel around even more than we have done.
We have exchanged our apartment twice and aim to do so every other year and return to PR the other.
As with all things 'buyer beware'. Dont pay for anything that sounds too good to be true. Looking at some of the other timeshare options we looked at the main pitfalls are high purchase price and/or escalating service or maintenance fees. If you want a good timeshare visit a few to look around and pick one where the members/owners have a committee that has the casting vote over the managing agents.

Bahia Blanca has and always has had a good repuatation and in that case so has Anfi its just the back room staff at Anfi that where a problem ,
the main problem is Sunterra which are in GC and are very very hard sell and also will do dogy things , also the resale cmpanies are really dodgy if you read crimeshare and look atthe Anfi part you will see that it is all EMPLOYEES not many actual purcahasers
my parents own at Bahia Blanca and like you said no problems and after banking weeks they tend to use 1 week there and then go further afield Bahamas and Goa the last two years and also a tour of california in teh past
as TROT has said NEVER buy something that sounds too good NEVER buy after being dragged off the street go for a week and have a stay at a certain resort , Bahia do this and sample the place when you HAVE to do teh compulsory meeting DONT let them force you into buying that day ask to be left alone to the end of the week and give them an answer then , AS LONG AS YOU HAVE BEEN TO THE MEETING/SALES PITCH THEY CANT CHARGE YOU AND YOU CAN SAY NO WOTH NCOMEBACK
anyone who says different at a resort when you are on a exploritary trip is fiddling you and you should stay clear

when we bought we didn't sign up there and then but came home and gave it a lot of thought, did the figures etc and took advice from Trading Standards.
We were never put under any pressure by the staff at Bahia Blanca. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to go and stay to see what it's like.
