When i tried to log on using CANARYFORUM.COM All I can get is HACKED BY NIGHT WARRIER The only way I could get to the forum was with the link owen100.com profile can someone help what is going on ?

I get exactly the same as askimrf, when i use www.canaryforum.com but when i come straight onto the forums and bypass the main site no problems at all . hope its not the same person as before

Yup, fixed for the moment tightening things up again. It's a shame as there's so many things/features I want on the site but can't risk adding because of things/people like this. It was just one of the basic files that was edited and everything esle everywhere else seems to be in tact and OK. Hopefully I can find out exactly where and how it happened and better still, get an address of where it was done.

Amazing....The Energizer reappears..i checked the "last visit" of this member and it was May 2006 and now he gets a mention he turns up again. Must be his telepathic skills that brought him back or... like i say he is using an alias...i couldn't care less really, but what ever i have to say ( even if it's rubbish) at least i don't have to hide my ID:D MEOW !!!!

on what evidence are u stating that its a member here. u should be care ful throwing wild accusations about. ive been a member since it was owen 100 got to be 8 years ago now ish. i for one would have no idea how to place a virus on the site let alone make one.
perhaps if u are so sure and with concrete proof why not out the person or persons urself.

anyway how does one go about hacking a web site would love to know. we could shut down GCI lol (only joking suzi)

Someone very kindly pointed out that the flaschat system wasn't secure and after looking through everything (logs) it seems that was the likely method used to try and hack my site last time round.

Fortunately, things were pretty secure for us here and no damage done but now I've had to remove the chat.

thanks freixie for the nice comments but the problem with the shoutbox is it is a rather expensive outlay for owen, but it brings back happy memories of the past when i come in early morning from work and used to have my cabardi and talk with shortie ,big baz, mactily, mary, etc a few dancing bananas and smilies ah!!!!! the good old days sadly as you see below time has caught up with me (saying me cause if marydoll sees ma dancers below she will kill me) on with the show having my late nightcap (cabardi) and hopefully this will bring a few smiles to many instead of the animosity that is currently flying around.:ohmy:

You did the right thing by removing the flash chat because my forums were being hacked via the chat room and I had to remove the software otherwise my hosts would have suspended my account, indefinitely. A lot of board owners have been hacked in this way.

Jesus Rab, whats all this dancing. I often go on about it, I know it was expensive, but not if you lost another feature apparently, but for those of us who enjoyed it, it was like having a car but taking out the engine and replacing it with pedals because it is cheaper to run.
This site must suffer a big hit loss without it, maybe I'm wrong, but most x shoutbox users say they dont use this site very much anymore, me included. Non users ,like non smokers, have said they dont care.
Fair enough, but although fun, for me it was far more informative and useful to members than playing games that have no relevance to the Canaries whatsoever. Why is arcade more important than information guys?

i must admit i liked the shout box when it was on the main page. used to chat with loads of folk on there. it was a laugh and kept people on here for hours.

Yup - thanks Joy it has been confirmed that is how I was hacked so long gone now and I have a feeling it was the shoutbox that allowed it the last time so no more chat scripts on the forum sorry to say :(

That is a great shame Owen, but fully understandable.

When I was made redundant last year, after 11 years in my job, it was the "shout box" that cheered me up and gave me a link to the outside world whist I was trawling the job sites, and it was a comment " what's for you, won't go by you" that gave me the "oomph" to apply for a temporary job, completely out of my field.

So I would like to thank everyone who "allowed" their chat to be viewed by all, and whilst I did not contribute much myself, when I did, people were very kind toward me.

And once again, I would like to let Rab know how much his dancing picked me up when I was feeling down!!
