Any suggestions for the cheapest travel insurance deals and where to get them!

I usually book a package with insurance included, but for our next visit (in feb) we've arranged our own flights/accom. and need to get some insurance sorted.
Any help will be greatly appreciated :thumb:

You could also try whoever you have your home insurance with, i have an annual policy through mine and we got a discount as we already had our insurance with them.
But remember the cheapest policy is not always the best, you need to make sure you are well covered

Because I suffered a mild stroke in 2003 travel insurance with every company I tried was very expensive or they would not insure me, I tried NATIONWIDE TRAVEL INSURANCE.
Making a full statement of my medical condition Nationwide policy is they either will or will not insure you so I ended paying the same as an able body person which for me was good.

We went to the Money Supermarket too. Really good deal - less than £20 I'm sure.

However, remember and get your E111 too - free and well worth it as likely to cover you for lots of eventualities too. (Note - not an alternative/replacement to insurance - you'll need insurance as well!)

Probably find a link to the E111 on here somewhere or maybe on Rab C's site?

To get the E111 or EHIC - www.dh.gov.uk (http://www.dh.gov.uk). This is free and shows you are entitled to NHS care. It shows you are an EU citizen, have a NI number and so have paid your taxes etc.
This card will allow you to use the NHS services - centro de salud in Maspalomas and Arguineguin, NHS ambulance service (112) and the NHS hospitals - Insular and Negrin in LP.
It will not may for additional accomadation for family in the case of accident or flights home in special flights - repatriation.
It isnt sufficient to have this alone but is good as a back up

a direct link to apply is at https://www.ehic.org.uk/InternetPROD/home.do
just scroll down the page and click on apply now nhi number will have to be known to carry your application through. usually takes 3-4 days for card to come through your letter box.

we have used simple insurance for years now and have reccomended it on here before but always read the small print before buying any insurance as what is adequate for our family may not be for yours

Like I said in an earlier post Rab, because I had a small stoke, when I applied for travel insurance I found all the company’s either wanted a small fortune or would not insure me fortunately I tried Nationwide and they have a policy that they either will or will not insure you so even with my medical background fully disclosed I only pay the same as anybody so for my wife and myself Annual Multi Trip £88
So anybody in a similar situation it might well be worth them having a look.

AIG............staff on other end are excellant, never pushy and actually do let u know the ins and outs and whats best for you as opposed to a lot of companies who just want ya monies.....my experience was last year, as id had a hernia op i was struggling to get insurance cover as i was away for a few days and most wouldnt insure me as it was 21 days after the event.. AIG covered it no problems and asked questions regards final hospital appointment dates etc and gave advice that i should just take the single trip cover and athen do my anual after my signoff from hospital, so thats my recommendations for annual and singular trips
