CT2 goes into administration

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

Flight-only operator CT2 has gone into administration with 1,000 passengers overseas.
The CAA has called a £7 million bond, and will be dealing with approximately 37,000 forward bookings.
CT2 was an operating brand of HCCT (Holidays) Ltd, which also operated sister firm Loco Flights. The company was bonded for 169,263 passengers.
Investor Nigel Warr, who with a consortium of investors ploughed 6 million into the business in 2004, said this morning that he believed the company was attempting to put together a refinancing plan but the CAA has now confirmed that it has ceased trading.
CT2 offered flights from 12 UK airports to European destinations, though attempts to establish a service between Manchester and South Africa failed and its charter airline start-up AV8 never flew on its short-haul routes.

CT2 Flights collapses

The Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that HCCT (Holidays), trading as CT2 Flights, has gone into administration.

The Sale-based company specialised in flights and holidays principally to Tenerife and other Canary islands. All outbound flights have now been cancelled.

The operator's £7 million bond has been called in by the Civil Aviation Authority to help rescue 1,000 holidaymakers abroad and reimburse almost 40,000 with forward bookings.

Most sales of CT2 and sister firm LOCO Flights were made through travel agents with flights from Manchester, Leeds/Bradford and other airports in the Midlands and North of England, the CAA said.

The CAA is making arrangements for all holidaymakers abraod to fly home as planned.

Monarch picks up CT2 customers

Friday, December 15, 2006

Monarch Airlines has stepped into the breach left by this week’s administration of flight-only operator CT2, putting an extra 235 seats between Manchester and Tenerife on sale.
Monarch managing director Tim Jeans said the company was putting on an extra 757 for January 5 and had sold 800 seats since the offer went live this afternoon, three times more than normal.
Jeans said the company was picking up CT2 customers who were already transferring their flight arrangements. CT2 had around 40,000 advance bookings on its books when it folded yesterday (see earlier story).
