Hi,

Coming over in a few weeks and wondered what the policy is now for hand luggage.

Can you take a flight bag or do you still have to have a transparant plastic bag?

Can you take onboard crisps/ sweets/drinks purchased in the departure lounge of the airport?

I've heard a few differant things so any help appreciated:nodding:

I've only flown B.A. from Gatwick on my last couple of trips, although you have to take your shoes off when going through into the departure lounge, things seem a little more relaxed. The liquids poilicy is strictly enforced, limited amounts in clear bags fully displayed. As regards hund luggage in general gone are the measuring gauges and the weighscales for hand luggage. As long as you're sensible and stay within the stated sizes you should'nt have any problem. Anything you buy from within the departure lounge you can take onboard, we took bottles of water for the flights with no problems.

we flew from newcastle to Gc in nov 06
had to put sachets of calpol for kids in clear bag, and also had to empty kids water cups b4 going though security, bought bottles of water once gone though security and this was ok took 6 bottles of water on to plane.
was hard as couldnt take long life milk on for my llittle one as i normaly do,
coming back i forgot and bought 2 cartons of milk got them taken off me, but again took water on id bought once going through security,
seem that as long as you stcik to your 100ml in clear bag, ( exextions are made for med and baby milk ) things are ok, and once you go though security, you can buy stufff to take on plane ,

At firsst i was quite impressed with the extra measures in place, i felt a little bit safer at least.

That was until February this year.

i had to manically repack my hand luggage and case in the airport as i had my make up in it and that is not allowed, i also had a bottle of water taken off me that was still sealed. I offered to taste it but they said no and took it saying i could buy one in the departure lounge. As i understood it, you can take them on the plane but only liquids bought after passport/searching/scanning of bags.

i set off the little alarm thing when i walked through so had to take off shoes, necklace, belt, and be searched before i could go through. My hand luggage was also scannd twice.

This amused me greatly a few minutes later when i opened my hand luggage and found a big bottle of Clinique perfume stuck inside my trainer.

So much for heightened security.

So can you take laptop cases on, as long as its a certain size. Mine will be useful for the passports and tickets as well.. Am i am not keen on putting a camcorder in the suitcase as when i got my suitcase the last time the inside of it was smashed....
