Benidorm staring Johnny Vegas on T.V. is so typical of the Brits abroad, I can relate to the characters on there. Here's the official web-site that contains some amusing little touches:- www.solanaapartments.co.uk (http://www.solanaapartments.co.uk)

I will take a look at that thanks, I've been watching it.
It's hilarious , talk about holiday from hell, I would have been on the first plane home I think.

we were told whilst we were there that they actually filmed some of it in Arguinigin(excuse spelling) and one of the cafes still bears the name cafe de Benidorm, dont know if this is true or not.

I was in Benidorm last year for the first time and passed the Sol Pelicanos where they filmed the poolside scenes

Have to agree with you that it is typical of the Brits ( unfortunately )

On a plus note we stayed with friends just outside in a small town and it was brilliant
Glass of wine and tapas € 1
Menu del dia € 9

Apart from us not a Brit to be seen

We did venture into Benidorm town and enjoyed a few really good shows ( including the sticky one )

We preferred the old town

I loved this show the last and the newer series were equally wicked funny. My favourites are the johnny vegas and his mother (ummm very familier that mother LOL).
I liked when they went on the free trip to the bull fighting, and it turned it was ruse to sell them something, which does happen aka the blanket trip, weve been on those for the free half day off out somewhere, i mean im on my holidays and who in thier right mind would buy a memory foam mattress and or bed apparantly designed by nasa for £2000k, but some of the group did do:eyebrow:. The dog wearing horns instead of a bull was funny.

I saw an interview with Johnny v and he was saying that is a real working hotel and that theyd be filming the end of january/feb so the people inthe background around the pool are punters on hols. On ITV they had a series similar to club reps called Benidorm uncovered, and they had that women sticky vicky doing her show on it (shuddddder!!!). I know the characters on Benidorm are exagerated, but people, places and things like that are all around just imagine meeting Jaqueline and Donald types and getting your wires crossed and be on the end of an invitation to see the views from thier bedrooms:blink:. Each to thier own,a holidays what you want and make of it.

Saying that if I was by the pool enjoying the sun, supping on a strawberry daquery and an elderly gentlemen called Mel happened along in his towel, dropping it to reveal his grey leopard print thong and bent over, id probably more than likely keel over

I was talking to someone from Benidorm the other day & he & his wife auditioned for extras in the new series. I am not sure whether he said they start filming in March ...so hopefully will be on our screens soon.
