How big are the chances that calima will hit the islands upcoming weeks? How long since it ravaged GC? The reason i'm asking is because of my desire of wanting to experience this phenomenon just for once in my life :-) Since i am going to PR 6 march :-D

calima ( a sort of sand storm) i have to say is pretty common the times i've visited in March. I can't think of a time when it didn't happen. I am hoping it happens this year as we are taking the nepthew and niece and it will be good for them to see it.. the biggest mistake i make is not putting on sun cream because it looks like the sun is not getting through.Painfull mistake...

Hi - could anybody tell me how long these calimas last. Also heard about the sciroccos (probably spelt wrongly) when do these usually happen and how long do these last?
Many thanks

They can last about a week and are often followed by a few days of stormy weather. The good bit is that you get really hot weather during a calima - which is good when the weather starts off a bit cooler , but a killer when its in the height of summer. But everything gets covered in a brown dust. Asthmatics, take care
The sirocco is the hot wind - thats harder as you open your windows, it feels like you are standing in front of a hairdryer.
They both happen a few times a year - no rhyme or reason that I know of.
