Hi to all,

I have been going to GC for years now but every time I go I get virtigo!! It gets so bad I can't even walk up stairs nor sit on a bar stool (U can see that being a major problem!)

It has never happenned when I go to other countries so y GC??

Does anyone know y or if there is anything I can take before I go to stop it?? I get my ears done before I go thinking it maybe that but still that does not stop it.. I am not afraid to fly so that ain't it. It comes on 3-4 days after being there so unless I get all my drinking time in before it hits then I am in trouble lol...

Any advice very much appreciated..

Lucky x

i would go to your G.P and explain your symptoms and that draining your ears doesnt help i suffer from vertigo occasionally but i cant for life of me remember what i take for it i will have a root around and let you know!!
anti-histamine is supposed to be good for vertigo too,:D

Dizziness is caused by the fluid in your ears whizzing round and so you brain thinks its spinnig around - when its not. This can be affected by an infection, pressure or wax.
As you get your ears syringed before you go, then that isnt the problem. Being scared or not shouldnt affect you either.
There are tablets that can help but they can make you sleppy. Talk to your GP and see if they can give you something or give us a call when you are here and you can see Dr Paul

Hi Lucky, I occasionally have vertigo which has been diagnosed as Labrynthitis, a viral infection I take a tablet called Stemetil which is Prochlorperazine Maleate. On my last visit to GC in Oct I had to have an injection from the Doctor. Within 24 hours I was OK.

i was given stemetil when i was pregnant with my youngest as i had constant morning, afternoon and night sickness lol i had it in injection form whilst in hospital which was good really as i had a fit on it!!
I know have to wear an allergy bracelet when i go in to have any procedures:wacko:

I had vertigo 8 years ago and it lasted for 5 weeks and couldn't walk anywhere. My GP gave me Betahistine Hydrochloride tablets which took a while to act but helped a lot. I had another attack when I went to New York last Nov so I empathise with you. I always carry some with me when I travell just in case but you have to get them from your GP as they are prescription only.
Go to google and type in vertigo and read what it says it may help you understand the condition and deal with it if you have another attack.

best wishes
