Puerto Rico is possibly the warmest part of the island at this time of year, as it suffers less from on shore breezes, therefore it feels warmer. Typical temperature at this time is in the region of 22 - 25 deg. C
The cheap and cheerful bit is more difficult to answer as you have chosen possibly the most expensive week of the year to travel. Expect to find most places booked up for this week and flights will be priced at the upper end of the scale. If you can get away the week leading up to Christmas, it would be far more attractive from a price point of view, and availability will not be a problem. It's all about supply and demand.

thanks for the reply, basically its a nightmare because i get a compulsary week at xmas and she is obviously off for school.

I dont mind paying upto £350 each, do you think this is possible? and if so what companies can I use? the annoying thing is it has to be those exact dates

first and foremost where are you flying from and what local airports do you use. secondly 26th dec is a bad day for gran canaria flights with holiday companies as they are all mostly sat or mon.flights
british airways have no flights from the uk on the 26th dec or 2nd jan to or from gc.
so that more or less rules out gran canaria.
supply has gone crazy for this xmas-new year without flexability you are on a hiding to none the prices you quote of £350 each is there but!!! for the 5th jan onwards your dates will be probably treble that if you manage to find flights and acc at such a late date.
afraid to say it looks like a cold winters week at home uless you change your dates but good hunting anyway.

We have used the Heathrow - Madrid - Las Palmas several times, good service, just takes a bit longer. We booked flights with BA for these dates months ago, they get sold out very quickly.
If the flights are any good you could try Owen for the accommodation.
Good luck.

acc available in the marbella golf apts s/c with alpha rooms 26th dec-2nd jan for £297.87 and with these flights that colin has set up at £413 that makes a total of £710.87 without transfers. and owen may be able to match that cheaper in a package deal for you (maybe include a transfer)
didnt think it was possible at that price for the period but its there although it takes in flight changes enroute and basic acc.:banghead:

La Palma is one of the island - taxi might be a bit pricey and wet
Or Palma - is in Majorca?

We are Las Palmas - Owen can organise airport transfer - click on the car at the top of this page for prices. Not sure of prices but it can range from 30 - 50 euros each way but someone else will correct me if I'm wrong
