I'm trying to get on the arcade but it says I need to have 20 posts. BUT my post count is stuck at 16. I've made more posts than this. One of my posts I made this morning has disappeared. I replied to the snakes thread, but it wasn't showing, I've just re-done it but my post count is still 16!!!

That is because posting single line posts to a thread in order to increase a post count results in those posts being removed.

We are trying to make the forum a more infomed place to visit and under the new rules one liners will be removed, if you are seen to be posting simply to get in the arcade then the posts will be deleted therefore not allowing your post count to go up.

You're OK so far but if anyone else drops by and starts at zero and tries to get to the arcade with pointless posts, the system will impose a ban before anyone gets there that way.

This is not a very good forum! I believe in freedom of speech provided it does not offend! I am a member of various other forums and one liners are not a problem! Churchill was famous for His!!!! So thankyou but no thanks.

Churchills one liners were a little better than "oooohhh wonderfull" or "I'll be there". The idea was to get more useful / helpfull posts and less rubbish but it doesn't seem to be working as well as I had hoped. I'll try it a little longer before changing the postcount required to 50.

Hi Owen,

I would respectively ask that you do not do that. When I was made redundant in March 2005, (after 11 years), it was the canaryforum that kept me in touch with the outside world. I enjoyed following the threads, including the "oneliner" replies by the regulars, I even joined in on some "shouts" - am a bit shy!!!

For me, the canaryforum brings sunshine to rainy, damp England - especially from the weather reports by Marcus(!), and even though I do not often post - there are many other wiser people with advice - I do visit regularly (though admit do not always log in).

I also do/did not often enter the arcade, but when I needed some "switch off" time, I always felt that I was in a safe 'site' - paranoia is my middle name!!

I would like to thank you, Owen, for the wonderfull Forum, and I hope you realise how many of us enjoy it.

Freixie

we all love the form and we appreciate that its a great informative site. When I moved over here, it gave me a link to the outside world. I felt really lonely when i moved here and to speak to people and help them enjoy their holidays here made me realise why I moved here and wanted to stay.
The reason for the post count is that in the past, we have had many people join, solely to use the free arcade. Now, although the arcade is fun, it isnt the main reason for the forum. If you want to take something away from the forum - like using the arcade - we ask you to give something back.
Its not much to ask, to leave a comment or two about where you enjoyed to eat or drink. Which were the best beaches. Which hotel you were in, and where you would like to go. Or asking for information about something you'd like to do when you are next here.
We dont bite (well some people can get a little heated, but we'll tell them off if they upset you) and even if you are shy, we would love to hear about your experiences on the island.
Enjoy the forum for what it is and we look forward to hearing from you all soon.

I agree with Owen, this is primarily a forum the games arcade is just a sidline. Also having a post qualifying period keeps the undesirables away that pop up from time to time with their insulting behaviour !!!!!

I'm fairly new around here so maybe I should sit on my hands and keep my thoughts to myself... but anyway...

I think there's a fine line between maintaining the community feel to the forum while keeping it constructive and informative. The community feel of the place attracted me to register, but I'm very cautious about posting in case my posts aren't seen as constructive/informative enough. I have been trying hard recently though!

I'm not interested in the Arcade bit, but I would think having a 50 posts threshold for gaining access to it might just encourage, rather than discourage, trolling. ;)

Is post count starting again then? I have the correct number of posts from the past but am unable to post on chatbox..or am I just too stupid and maybe someone could PM me and tell me how to get it to work for me?
