Hi all,

Me and my boyfriend came to Gran Canaria in January and loved it. We're about to lose our jobs as pub managers as the brewery is selling our pub, and were considering working abroad. We stayed in Puerto Rico and loved the place and the people. Someone told me we should just get flights over with enough money to last us a month because there are loads of bar jobs and places to stay. I'm sure its not that easy and was hoping for any advise? i know we'll need some sort of work permits and what would we do about bank accounts? would not speaking spanish be a major problem?

any help would be great,

Laura

To open a bank account all you need is a passport.

No work permit is required in Spain for all EU citizens (including the new member states as of May 1, 2006). You simply register at the local police (in PDI) for an N.I.E. #. That # is all you need to be employed in Spain...
