MIRADOR DEL RIO
Situated in the north of the island.
The mirador is situated in the north of the island, almost 500 meters above sea level. The area where it has been built has always seen lookouts through the islands history, watching for pirates. The Mirador del Rio was built in 1974 and from either of it's two look-out points and on a clear day, you can see the two smaller Canary Islands of Montaña Clara and the most northern of all the islands, Alagranza. The closer and larger island of La Graciosa is always visible and the lookout faces over Graciosa's habour village of Caleta del Sebo, just 1km away.
Looking out to the left you see the Famara Cliffs. A botanically important site, the cliffs are home to around 20 species of plant only found on Lanzarote.
