Lanzarote Excursions
Boats
Firstly, in case you were looking for the ferry times and prices from Lanzarote to the other major Canary islands, have a look HERE.
There is a ferry service not mentioned there, that I'll mention here, and that's the service from Orzola in the north of Lanzarote that goes to the island of La Graciosa.
Arriving in the port of Santa Cruz, have a look around the town and you'll quickly appreciate a really traditional Canarian and peaceful way of life. As with Lanzarote, the houses are whitewashed with most built just one story high. The water tanks used for cattle in the not too-distant past are still in the town center. Places to visit in the town are the Parish church; Church of Santo Cristo; Belfry; Cruz da Barra (cross) ; Chapels of Monte da Ajuda and the Ethnographic House.
If you can get out and about around the island a little (rent a bike!) you'll see that the landscape of Graciosa attracts and fascinates the visitor. It is made up of plains, round hills covered with trees, vineyards lying between dark stone walls, chequered fields of tilled land and the constant presence of the ocean. The atmosphere is of calm isolation that is lived and felt, the unusual situation of an island that is almost cut off from the world and scattered with windmills, hills and caverns.
The journey accross lasts just 15 minutes and the timings are as follows (subject to change)
July - September
Orzola to La Graciosa @ 10:00 12:00 17:00 18:30

Submarine Safari
I won't cover this too much as they have their own site www.submarinesafaris.com. There's an online booking form there that gives you a 10% discount. There's a free bus service from Puerto del Camrne and Costa Teguise to Puerto Calero which is where you'll sail from (well, sink really). Adults 45 euros and children 30 euros.
Puerto Calero
Spitting distance really from Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero is the place to go for boat trips for anyone who isn't staying in Playa Blanca. As well as the island's submarine, theres a number of other cruises that sail from here. You'll find most offer a free bus service from Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.
Catlanza (928 513022) offer a day sailing on a catamaran, sailing down to the south of the island and the spectacular white-sand beaches of Papagayo where the boat anchors and offers free time swimming in the turqoise waters, free jet-ski ride, free snorkelling equipment (head towards the caves) and lunch.
